suma welcomes your accommodation requests

editor's note

Hi suma friends,

We have an important pricing update for folks who’ve been riding Lime via the suma app!

We’re happy to announce a new partnership with Upstream Access, creating more accessibility within the suma app. We’re also continuing work with our lasting partners at the Coalition of Communities of Color on their MADE project, strengthening community voices.

Be sure to catch us at the farmers markets before the end of the season!

Thanks for keeping up!

Accommodation Work

In continuing our mission to make the app more accessible to everyone, we’ve partnered with Upstream Access, an organization that supports the resilience of disabled people. Their mission statement states:

“We are a cross-disability community committed to supporting the resilience of fellow disabled people in Oregon and Southwest Washington. We celebrate disability as a culture and source of creative strength. We invest our collective wisdom to advocate for positive change. We partner with allies who share our vision of equity and access in all landscapes."

As Erin Taylor, Executive Director of Upstream Access, shares:

“When accessibility is built in from the beginning, not an afterthought, technology becomes a true reflection of equity and care. Cross-collaboration ensures it’s not just functional, but equitable, inclusive, and reflective of our collective care for every user.”

We’re grateful for this partnership and look forward to working together to strengthen accessibility within the suma app, while supporting their mission to empower the disability community.

Analytics

To drive our work, it’s important for us to show our impact in an easy, measurable and sharable way.

By using the analytics platform Metabase in tandem with the suma app, we can easily see and report on our impact.

We're tracking:

• How much our community is saving

• How our user base is growing

• How discounts and subsidies are leveraging user-buying power

• And more!

This practice keeps us focused and accountable on delivering real value to frontline communities. Our platform doesn't just track progress, it extends our reach and supports our user community.

The accommodation work has been made possible through funding entirely by the City of Portland, Portland Clean Energy Community Benefits Fund.
